Insomnia by Robyn Park

I don’t know why I can’t drift off
Into the land of dreams
Kept awake again tonight
No sleep for me, it seems

It's not really nightmares
Although I have them sometimes
I don’t know why I can’t sleep
I’ve tried a million times

My mind it won’t shut down
Keeps talking all through the night
I continue to think if I lay there long enough
I could fall asleep sleep…I just might

I’ve begged and I’ve pleaded
For me to get some rest
But my cries go unanswered
And I become obsessed

First I try the pills
That the doctor ordered
What a shock- they don’t work
My life becomes distorted

Next I try the booze
A few shots of Turkey
But that doesn’t work
It just mkes me quirky

I don't think there is a “cure
For most who cannot sleep
Like me they’re left to fix it themselves
And end up counting sheep

I fear there is no end
To this sleepless life I live
For just one night of restful sleep
Anything, I’d give

I don’t know why I can’t drift off
Into the land of dreams
Kept awake again tonight
No sleep for me, it seems

**Obviously, this was written on one of many sleepless night. Sorry it sucks.
