In The Eve (Hearts Content) by Dark Savior
So silent it was in the cold black night
they sat their peacefully under the twilight
all was silent except for his serenade
each would love one another to the grave
they sat each night, watching the sky above
how much both them and their love had grown
each night he would sing or read a story
listening quietly and always adoring
picked her up and he held her close to his heart
knowing that's where she'd be should they part
this is more then a biological level
they were together, completely inseparable
after time they began to grow old and change
only minute parts of their lives were re-arranged
she was summoned and told that he was going to die
she didn't know what to do but fall down and cry
she ran to the hospital, clasped his hand
"Don't you die" she stated in command
his hand moved and rubbed her cheek
for him and her the future looked bleak
they could hear the heart monitor's beep
his hand feel to the bed side and left her cheek
Half expecting him to walk through the door
lay down beside her and read like he had before
the rain beating against the window, a lightening clap
she was beginning to realize and face the facts
the funeral went by way to fast
a month later she finally grasped
she went to bed and gripped the sheets tightly
as she began to read to herself almost unsightly
she closed her eyes looked deep into her heart
this is what he meant when he said "the'd never be apart"
looking into her heart both happy and sad
because she had lost her true love, her dad.
