Hi, My Name's Katrina by Kincaid

Hi my name's Katrina,
You don't want anything to do with me.
I've caused a lot of hurt and pain.
Can't you see.

And though it wasn't my fault,
My parent's chose my name.
Kids at school run from me.
And pretend that it's a game.

But it really hurts my spirit.
And it has injured my heart,
If I could describe the pain and hurt,
I wouldn't know where to start.

I guess you better go now,
Cuz they saw that I'm a flood.
I don't even know what the word means!
A great big wave of mud?

Somebody please help me,
And tell me it's all a lie.
Every time they spit and tease me.
I always start to cry.

How could I take so many lives?
I've been here all along.
All these kids like me at school.
Must be horribly wrong.

I turned nine years old today.
All all the kids treated me so bad.
Yes, my name's Katrina.
And I am really sad.
