she walks down the hall
he sees her everyday on his way
moving from art to history
and he always watches
as she hurries past
her head down
hoping to not be noticed
in her simple clothes
plain ponytail
but this time she did look up
and her eyes met his
he smiled and she gave a wavering grin back
making his heart flutter
but then remembering who she was
knowing she wasn't really interested
just being nice
and they both continue on
him

he walks in a strut
in his tight jeans and black tees
daring to be messed with
his eyes not meeting anyone
but this time he looked over
and his eyes met hers
she gave him a small smile
that he returned
with a look of surprise
making her heart flutter
but then he remembered
they were so different
she could never love him
she was just being nice
and they both continued on there way
