Late August Night by Edyta Banasiak
I sit here on late August night and noticed that everything is changing, changing once again...
No longer needing inside air
to cool from summer's heat,
I invited all the new brisk air;
to have a refreshing treat.
A sudden rush of past thoughts came, from just the smell of air,
That familiar scent of crisp ice breeze, while tussling through my hair;
Filled my mind with joy and laughter
-old moments everywhere.
Summer's ending, sighed the timeless wind,
as she breathed into my ear
Put away the beach towels for summer's done,
no more insomniac crickets to hear.
It's time to live in Autumn's Fall,
and enjoy brown leaves golden crunch;
To watch the world go slower,
catch falling leaves and trash them before your brunch.
It's time to suit up
in hats and scarves galore;
To live another day and dress up
for Halloween once more.
With one exhale, she breathed out frost
-bit my nose a little
Yet all the while, I didn't notice
-was listening to her fiddle
The tune of Fall, with skies of grey,
this mystical song she played.
