When The Music Fades by David Reed Sutter
Let me in so I can learn the love you have,
so I may be free
but speak it with a touch of your softness
and blanket it in your tranquility.
The Autum sun in your eyes shines so bright
and the beauty you cast
is one of wonder and delight.
I?m learning to speak how I feel
and I feel as much as they
but the melancholy mask I wear
is the condition I display.
While these tears pour out as ink,
my sighs breath out as words
and the smiles I pass... I cannot afford.
While loving in truth and in this pain,
in due time my love will show.
My time has slipped away,
and I fear she?ll never know.
Now with my slow words
and plagued with my dumb eloquence
she leans over and says, ?it?s over?
in her own sweet breath of defense.
Love gave me the wound,
which while I breath will still bleed.
I?ll go to any lengths of love?s decrees,
I?ll push forward and I?ll agree.
We?ve experience it all,
from heavenly beams infused with Hellish pain
to beautiful sunsets and crimson clouds- pouring rain.
When I was stumbling through this life,
it was your touch that brought me peace.
And when I was without words,
you spoke for me with a fragrance in your voice.
The quivering smile I pass
used to fill this empty space,
the door that came by the presences of your face.
I?m learning to love right
and I?ll never be wrong again,
I?m learning to never stop
and your passions I will defend.
