Outside Her Window by Ilinca Milosan
Standing alone in a cold autumn night,
Ignoring the screams of her parents’ endless fight,
Staring out the window, she could always see
Darkness overwhelming a world of insanity.
Outside, where rusted street lamps were lit
She could see an innocent boy being hit
By a cruel man, who’s called father
All happening in front of a shivering lady, his mother.
Tears pouring down her face, she looked away,
She sees these scenes every night, each day.
Up the hill behind her old dusted house,
Owls were chasing a scared little mouse.
Refusing to assist to another tragic scene,
She hides in her bed where she couldn’t be seen.
The screams persist; it will not end soon,
Her parents fight from night to noon.
Trying to fall asleep the moonlight shines on her face
She’s the only one honest in this dreadful place.
Outside her window there is only strife and pain,
Other parents fighting, other children cry in vain.
