When people put paper to pen
Do they write those words
Just to be praised again and again?

Or do they sit in a dark hour
Scribbling away for the own comfort
Because it’s their only power?

Does the thought of awards and votes
Enter first or second to their writing
When they joined poems and quotes?

I know I smile and feel pleased when I see
Little awards, rising votes, but when I write
It’s not for people to put praise on me

I write for myself, for the pure joy
And if people start writing just for praise
It’s not only their good name they destroy.

* Just a little something, because I know there are some of this site who merely write/comment/vote to be praised back, and get those little awards. Just wanted to remind people it’s not about ANY of that. It’s nice, but it’s not about that.
