I know when you’re at a younger age
Learning about Jesus is hard
You don’t want to pay attention
You don’t want to think of him as your guard

I’ve known a lot of people for quitting
Quitting on what they needed to hear
I didn’t quit on learning about Jesus
I’ve learnt more throughout the years

It was about when I was twelve years old
I understood more what my pastor said
He always explained how faith worked
To pray at night by your bed

I’ve known people for quitting at that too
They expect their prayers to get answered the next day
That is not how it works
You’re just rushing to get your way

I’ve had trouble in my home
For consecutive years
Mom and dad argued
Gone through many beers

Things have been thrown
Many things have broke
But I have never forgot
Of the words my pastor spoke

He said God intended for his people to rest
If you walk the road of faith
If you believe with all your might
He promises you’ll be able to walk straight

I’ve done just what he said
I’ve stayed strong for such a while
Jesus has healed my wounded heart
He always finds a way to make me smile

I’ve come to find
Faith works out the way you want
As long as you don’t speak the negative
As long as you don’t daunt

For years now I thought
I could be a mama’s girl
Let her be my whole heart
Let her be my whole world

Then I turned to daddy
The one who lives because of me
I thought maybe I could be a daddy’s girl
Besides he always reminds me of my beauty

Then I realized that won’t work
I got to go to the man who always gave me help
The one who always answered my prayers
The one who deserves me as their little girl more then anyone else

I’m Gods little angel
That’s what he wants me to be
An angel to show the world
That faith worked for me!
