Volunteering by My_little_secret
The Many Lives of a Volunteer
My name is…who cares?
No one asks
All you get is odd jobs
And pointless tasks
I am a volunteer, my lad,
And here’s my sorry tale,
This is why I’m crippled and
Reliant on the ale
All day long we work so hard
For an hours break and bread and soup
And once the hours up, my friend,
Back to the slog we troop
Through wind and rain and searing heat
We shovel muck and hay
And now we soak for days before
And for this our backs must pay
With two days work fit in to one,
As Sundays have no worth,
Is it any wonder that by now,
We could successfully run the earth
Efficiency’s our middle name
And we put others to much shame
For although they try and do it
They can’t beat us at our game
