Your Ring by Shannon
The phone rang
As I picked it up I heard the voice of your mother
Her voice sounded as if she was crying tears of pain
She breathed in deep
and told me what I dreaded to hear
Oh,
But why you
Ever so young
Why were the angels to lift you from me
With their delicate touch
She told me that I should come down see
The letter that you wrote for me to only read
As I entered your room
I did not see you sitting there with a smile
Instead I saw a letter on your bed
That you wrote to me
Before your life came to an end
And it read
“ I am sorry that I have to leave you ever so soon
but I have decided it was for the best
because I could not take this any longer
because my life was a mess.
I thank you for all you have done for me
You are the one that I look up to
The one that I adore
The one I find my strength in
But I couldn’t do it any more
You needed to be free of my ever tight grasp
That I held upon you to find comfort in
I hope that you will try not to be with me and
Escape the world as I did
Because what you have to offer is more then I could ever dream of given
I know that all my dreams and hopes will never come through.
But the only real dream was to be with you.
And it may seem as I am not with you any longer
But I am with you right now as you read this letter
I will always be with you
On my dresser
My jeweler box is perched
Inside is the ring I would wear upon my finger
Each and everyday
The ring that my mother gave to me
Because she said that she was proud of what I was
and was trying to be
That is yours
To wear upon your finger
To hold close to your heart
I hope that you love it
As much as I did
Sorry once again my dear friend
I love you
And hope to one day reunite once again.
As the letter left my hand and fell back upon the bed
I walked towards your jeweler box
Where I found the ring
As I noticed
The gem was the color of your beautiful blue eyes
And the light gold was the color of your hair
As I placed it upon my finger
I then realized you where still here
