You were always there for me,
I just didn't realize it.
Every time I would cry,
you would ask why,
but I would just turn away,
not realizing I should stay.

Since I was a little girl,
you said you'd always be there,
you said you'd always love me,
and that you'd always care.
You've tried to give me everything I've always wanted in life,
just so I wouldn't have to feel sorrow or strife.

You've always tried to protect me from everything bad,
but yet I'd still turn away and go off and get mad.

Mad that you wouldn't let me live in my own world,
where I believed nothing bad could ever happen to me.
But now I realize that this could never be.

Now that I have opened my eyes,
and seen reality,
I know longer need to wear this disguise,
so I'm giving you all of me.
