Out Of Sight Out Of Mind by Heather Clark

Everyone says they care
and that I'll be close in their hearts.
So why is it that
i feel so far away and forgotten.
I hear promises
of times past
that I'll always be loved and remembered.
I come across
the promise "Friends forever"
and realize forever isn't very long.
I was told the distance
was nothing more than a number
and that the miles weren't that far.
You told me
a million and one lines
and gave me every reason
that our friendship would survive.
all those lines and reasons
were lies that you said
to convince yourself everything would be okay and remain the same
if only you would have tried more
and convinced less
