My Baby Brother by JJ

He lies in a hospital bed
wires, tubes running everywhere
bandages wrapped around his head
machines reading his life

I stand there in tears
staring at him through the window
he look so small and frail
doctors say any day he could go

One last chance I have to pray
getting down on my knees
thinking of the right words to say
"I beg you, dear God please...

He's my baby brother
one reason I have to live
I made a promise to my mother
I would always take care of him

I know its selfish to ask
but if you must take his soul
then take my mine too
I'll willingly go...

God if your listening to this
I mean every word I said
make this my last wish
I'll never ask for anything again"


*I wrote this for my youngest brother. He turned 9 years old a couple days ago. Everyday I thank God...he made it through
