'Twas like an oven outdoors
When Dad called out the edict.
Jump into your swim suit, Brad;
Let's become a water addict!
Naught interfered; Dad sped along
Quickly to the famed water hole.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Oh, what a blast--
From a dive to a jump to a roll.
We thought the water belonged to us,
When Brad screamed at the top of his lung!
Out of the depths he torpedoed --
From his toe a slimy eel hung.
Dad quickly came to his aid,
Squishing the eel with his finger.
Breann! What a GRAND time we had ...
Hurry! Let's go! Don't linger!
Back to the hole they sped,
Dad, Breann, Brad -- all excited.
Squeals of glee arise all eve;
Brad waits for Bree to be ignited.
Darkness deepens; bats are flying.
In disgust, Brad agrees to go home.
How come sis didn't have a trauma?
The awful happens to me alone!
Disgruntled, Brad climbs in the car.
Dad and Bree are ready to leave.
Mom greets the carload with ice cream,
And Brad retreats to grieve.
Bed time, calls Mom to the kids.
Smiling, Bree goes to her room,
And Brad, depressed, climbs into bed --
Negative thoughts add to his gloom.
Suddenly, something makes a sound.
Up he jumps to turn on the light.
Beady eyes stare him down as he
Jumps in bed because of fright.
Who had the final word tonight?
Upon whom was the final joke?
Slithering under his dresser,
The eel escaped Brad's poke!
