I remember when I was five
and life was so simple,
because boys had cooties.
When I fought with my best friend,
it didn't matter to the two of us five minuets later.
I didn't care what my hair looked like,
Or what I wore to school.
Nothing mattered to me,
the only thing that mattered was I got to play outside.
Now that I'm sixteen,
life's not so simple anymore.
I found out that boys don't have cooties.
Fighting with my best friend means everything,
five minuets later we are still fighting.
Now I care what my hair looks like,
And it matters what I wear to school.
Everything matters to me now.
Hanging out with my friends at the mall.
Not wanting to be home everyday.
I want to have a love of my life now.
When I was five I would hang out with grandma every Sunday.
Now I'm sixteen and I don't hardly ever see her anymore.
When I was five all I wanted to do was beat the guys at there own game.
That still hasn't changed much now that I'm sixteen.
I still want to beat the guys at there own game.
When I was five I was running around with Papaw,
hunting and going to work with him.
Now I'm sixteen and I don't run around with Papaw anymore,
I don't go hunting anymore or go to work with him.
When I was five I liked to stay with Memaw while she put something special together.
Now I'm sixteen and I don't stay with memaw while she puts something special together anymore.
When I was five I was a Mommy's girl.
And now I'm not.
Life was so simple when I was five and had nothing to worry about.
Now I wish I was five again and not sixteen.
