The Vine Of Love by Renee I. Weidner

Grandfather you taught me,
Many lessons on living,
Treasure your family,
Always share and be giving.

You said you were ready,
I must now set you free.
Selfishly I cried,
And begged..."Please don't leave".

What a loss I am feeling,
Deep down in my heart.
I realize it's time,
You and I now must part.

What you gave me was priceless,
What you showed me was love.
And now how I miss you,
What's it like up above?

If I had a time machine,
I'd go back for a day.
I'd sit by your bed,
I'd kneel and I'd pray.

I'd make sure you knew,
It was okay to go.
You'll always be with me,
In my heart I know.

The lessons I've learned,
From your life and your death.
Are with my every heartbeat,
And will be on my last breath.

Our lives together,
I describe as a vine.
Where yours ends, mine begins,
And our love intertwines.

If I can touch one life,
The way you touched mine.
I will have lived with a purpose,
And continued our vine.
