The Truth Is N The Eyes by Julia J. Banks
I looked into the eyes of my sister and I saw her pain
The pain that caused her to run the streets
the same streets that her momma couldn't beat,
the same route the took her father out
I looked into the eyes of my sister and I saw
the whys the wont, the does the don't, the will to want
to let go of the past to let go of the pain
to let go of the things that left her insane
to come inside from the rain.
I looked into the eyes of my sister
and I saw the where because she couldn't remember
how long she had been out there in such despair
I looked into the eyes of my sister and I saw her pain
and then she looked into my eyes and saw the tears like rain
As I rubbed what was long dark and beautiful hair
is now matted and barely even there
As I touch what was hard to comb
I said don't worry my sisters its time to come home
I love you girls
