The Little Box by Lucinda L. Johnson
His eyes wide his little body shook. She
could see his fear as he walked into the
school. He turns and runs back to her holding
on for life.
She whisperers in his ear. He smiles and
hugs her tight. His little fist squeezed tight
onto the gift he held inside.
As she walked away the tears streamed
down her face.
Years have past and the boy has grown. Now
ready to begin a life of his own.
She stood there wondering where the years had
gone. Fear filled Her eyes and her body
shook.
He leans over to his mother and whispers in
her ear. She looked up at him and gave him a
big smile.
She squeezed her fist tight onto the gift
she held inside.
As her son drove away she looked into her
hand. Surprised to find the little box
she thought was lost, she was holding once
again.
The note she wrote so long ago was still
inside the little box.
Although this box is little the love inside
is not.
When you feel sad or lonely hold it close,
and know that I am with you, hugging and
loving you with all of my heart.
Love Mommy
Love Mommy was scratched out.
Love Ryan now took its place.
