Thank You My Children by Francesca Abbey
Come on in my precious children. There's something I've got to say.
This might take a little time, so I hope you both can stay.
Rest your coats and have a seat. I made us all some tea.
Just relax and take this time to listen carefully to me.
We've been friends. We've been a team, and I feel it's safe to say
We've been reflections of each other, and still we are today.
Some think the parents' job is done when the kids are fully grown.
But you'll always be my babies! A mothers' love is to the bone.
We've been through so much together, I really just can't see
With all the stress I've dragged you through, how you ever tolerated me.
You trusted me to take care of you, to supply your every need.
Your backs I had to clothe. Your bellies I had to feed.
When I was falling short of your basic expectations,
Your smiling faces gave me new strength to exceed my limitations.
Raising you both has always been my pleasure.
You're my reasons for living, my valuable treasure.
You've taught me so much about responsibility,
and how to find happiness deep inside of me.
You showed me that love never minds sharing,
Constant sacrificing and unselfish caring.
Thank you my children for bringing love into my life
You loved me unconditionally through all the stress and strife.
Thank you my loved ones, for it is very plain to see,
While I was raising you, you were also raising me.
Come closer children, let me look into your eyes.
You both are truly beautiful, respectable and wise.
I want to kiss your faces. I need to touch your hands.
If you see me crying tears of joy, I hope you'll understand.
Come here and let me put my arms around you both.
Pour the champagne and let us make a toast.
To the tradition we have started in our small family,
Of trust, respect, unification and love eternally.
