My Son My World by Summer L. Jerome
My son is eight months old and so an only child.
He is the most wonderful I have met so far.
The most wonderful things about him make me smile even when he is not there.
Every time I look into those little brown eyes and he smiles
and leans toward my face to press his little nose to mine,
my heart beats faster and my love grows stronger.
Whenever he is sitting and playing all by himself
and something not so drastic to us but to him disturbs his little world,
the first words that fall from those helpless yet independent little lips
is ma ma only to say,
mom you are the only one who can help,
my heart beats faster and my love grows stronger.
Those nights when his dreams suddenly turn not so good,
he is aroused and he screams, not to be mean,
but only to say mommy you are the only one who can comfort me,
my heart beats faster and my love grows stronger.
With every beat of my heart I thank God for blessing me with this little boy.
With every breath that I take I thank the Lord
for letting me breath the same air as this precious little angel.
He is my heart, he is my soul, he is my son.
