My Gift by Kindra M. Minnifield

To My Ariana,

I received a special gift
A blessing from above
God, sent me a small wonder
A precious baby girl
Her eye's are like diamonds that would twinkle,
Like; a star,
Can't no, mother forget her baby's first smile
Her rosy red cheeks, just as big as they could be
As I held her in my arms and watched her drift to sleep
Her face so innocent, many lesson to be learned
With no instructions attached I must teach her
What I know
As I watch her grow and develop her style
She reminds me of me when I was a child
To teach this young person the values I have
Maintain your respect, dignity and class
Her independence will be important
Her charm will light the sky
Oh how I have so much planned for this little girl of mind
A proud mother I'll be to see her do well
and lift her back up at times she think she has failed
My daughter, once baby, child, then grown,
who will become one special lady with values I've stoned,
Her lessons will be challenged
Her conquer she will quest
And when that time come and God shall know best
My, baby, now lady will also be blessed.
