I Remember by Jessi Vischer
After years and years;
moment to moment,
not one day goes by that I don't think of you.
Through guilt and sorrow
and the pain of truth,
not one minute's gone by
without me missing you.
If I close MY eyes
I see YOURS.
I remember how you'd smile
and the edges would crinkle up like
neatly folded creases of time.
Your laugh still grabs me
as it resounds through my head;
as loud and exuberant as ever.
Although life has gone on,
and change comes almost regularly,
I picture you in my mind and I feel
certain that this image won't ever
fade.
The imprint you left on me
is the most wonderful part of who I've become,
and, as I experience life's changes,
you can bet I'll be taking you with me wherever I go.
