She always lived in the shadows of another
Not by choice, but the path God chose for her

Continued selflessness and providing throughout her life
Never putting herself before someone else's strife

Remembered for her spirit and laughter
Never showing signs of weakness through disaster

She remained strong and lifted others in times of need
Only to find her own pain from the symptoms of a horrible disease

She faced the monster with no fear and put up a long fight
But was overcome by this cancer and eventually looked towards the light

The arms of Heaven welcomed her on a warm April eve
It just took me four years to believe

This is where she belonged for she no longer suffered
Her spirit will live once again, and she is my mother
