Daddy by Laura Mccormick

Dedicated to Justin McCormick AKA Daddy

The lights are so bright,
compared to my darkened world
I look up into your eyes,
daddy's little girl
I begin to scream what happened to that warm tummy
and who is this strange man holding me?

Days go by I learn you are my daddy
that you love and always will protect me.
I am an angel sent to bless your home,
to help mommy through the time she's alone.

You had to go fight for our country,
it was hard to see you leave
but I know I must be strong
I can't let mommy hurt alone.

I see your pictures and always smile
it's a remembrance of you from across the miles.
I point to you and say tickle or daddy,
you will never be forgotten by me.

I miss you, something new for a child so small
I rushed to see you or answer your call
and I await the day you return to my little world
and once again daddy will be with his little girl
